Ministry

Micks Kitchen

In November 2015, our Parish decided to establish a ‘Soup Kitchen’, as an outreach to those less fortunate in our community.  We were lead in our endeavours by Fr Bernard Buckley who was our Parish Priest at that time.  With lots of goodwill and support from the Parish, and from many businesses in our community, we now have a kitchen set up in the St Vincent de Paul Help Centre at 43 Kay Street, Traralgon.  Our current priest, Fr Francis Otobo fully supports this outreach ministry.

Family Group Movement

Established in 1972 by Fr Peter McGrath CP, the aim of the Family Group Movement is to build Christian community through the development of extended families.

Youth Ministry

At St Michael’s Catholic Church we have a thriving Youth Ministry that caters for many different age groups. Our focus is providing a safe and fun environment for our young ones as they grow in Gods love and continue on their faith journey.

This is a chance for fellowship…

A time for local men to get together, interact, chat and get to know one another.

The plan is for a full cooked breakfast … but it is not so much about the food but the opportunity to share a meal becomes the engine room for coming together.

All men in the parish and beyond are welcome. This is a chance to catch up with friends and meet a few new ones, share a meal and listen to a guest speaker. Just let the parish know you are coming. Gold coin donation.

St Michael's Charismatic Prayer Group

The Charismatic Prayer group meet every Thursday evening from 7.30pm - 9pm in Mackillop Hall, next to the Church. Occasionally it is replaced by a Healing Mass in the church itself.(See weekly bulletins)

Welcomers' Report.

At every Weekend Mass a number of Parishioners volunteer to welcome people as they came to Mass, our Eucharistic Celebration. They welcome each person and give them a copy of the weekly Bulletin, and other items relevant to the Mass for that Sunday. Our welcomers are there representing the parish, and it’s marvellous to be met with welcome, friendliness and inclusion.

Ministry of sacristan

The Sacristan’s role is a Ministry which dates back many centuries in the history of the Catholic Church. A Sacristan works behind the scenes - both before and after a Liturgy takes place.

St Michael's Hospital Visitation Team

This team supports the Church family members who may be in need of some cheer or encouragement during their hospital stay. The team supports both Fr Francis and Deacon Tony in the field of pastoral care.
