Family Group Movement

Established in 1972 by Fr Peter McGrath CP, the aim of the Family Group Movement is to build Christian community through the development of extended families.

With loneliness and isolation so prevalent in our society, there is a genuine need for people to know and support each other. Family Groups create an extended family atmosphere within the community and are open to everyone – families, singles, Catholic & non Catholic, couples & divorced, just anyone. Our focus is on people caring for, loving and accepting each other.

Our Aims:

To get to know other members of the Parish

To support each other sharing each others joys and sorrows and so building the Christian community as in the early Church

To involve our children in our Christian sharing directly, if possible.

If not, then indirectly by our example

St Michaels Church has many active Family Groups within its community which meet once a month for a social activity. This is a great way to get to know other families in our Parish. If you are interested in joining a family group no matter your age, please call Jenny & Peter Dalpra 03 5174 2060
